Treatment Guidance
Finding the Right Treatment For Your Loved One
How do you know what kind of treatment program will actually help your loved one?
We guide families through treatment options based on one thing: what’s right for your specific situation. Our recommendations aren’t influenced by referral fees or partnerships. We recommend what we think will work.
When Is Professional Treatment Necessary?
Not every addiction situation requires residential treatment. Some people respond to outpatient programs, others need intensive inpatient care.
The right answer depends on several factors:
- Severity and duration of substance use
- Co-occurring mental health conditions
- Previous treatment history and what’s worked (or hasn’t)
- Physical health and withdrawal risks
- Family situation and support system
- Financial resources and insurance coverage
Our interventionists help you assess these factors and determine the appropriate level of care. Sometimes that’s a 90-day residential program. Sometimes it’s intensive outpatient with sober coaching support. Either way, we’ll be honest with what you need.
What Should You Look For in a Treatment Center?
Accreditation and Licensing
Legitimate programs are licensed by their state and accredited by recognized bodies like The Joint Commission or CARF.
Clinical Approach
What therapeutic modalities do they use? Is the approach evidence-based? How do they address co-occurring disorders?
Staff Credentials
Who’s actually providing the treatment? What’s their experience and training?
Aftercare Planning
Treatment doesn’t end at discharge. Strong programs build robust aftercare plans and ongoing support.
Transparency About Outcomes
Be cautious of programs that promise guaranteed results. Addiction recovery is complex—anyone claiming otherwise isn’t being honest.
What Red Flags Should You Avoid?
High-Pressure Tactics
Good programs don’t need to pressure you into immediate decisions.
Vague Treatment Philosophy
If they can’t clearly explain their approach to treating clients, that’s a problem.
Zero Family Involvement
Programs that exclude families ignore a critical component of lasting recovery.
Unusually Low Pricing
Cost should reflect the level of care. If pricing is suspiciously low, what are they cutting?
How We Help Families Navigate Treatment
Understanding Your Options
We start by understanding your loved one’s specific needs. What substances are they using? What’s their treatment history? Are there mental health concerns? What does their insurance cover? Based on this assessment, we identify programs that genuinely fit.
Honest Recommendations
Our team has combined decades of experience in substance abuse treatment. We know which programs deliver results and which ones don’t. When we recommend a facility, it’s because we believe it’s the right fit—not because we have a financial relationship with them.
Coordinating Placement
Once you’ve chosen a program, we help coordinate the logistics. When should your loved one arrive? What should they bring? How do you handle the transition from intervention to treatment? We guide you through the details that can make or break a smooth admission.
Supporting the Family Through Treatment
Your work doesn’t stop when your loved one enters treatment. Many families are unprepared for what comes next—the calls home, the family sessions, the requests to leave early. We continue supporting you throughout treatment, helping you maintain boundaries and prepare for discharge.
Treatment Is Just the Beginning
Too many families think recovery is accomplished once treatment is done. Your loved one completes a program, they come home, problem solved.
They may be sober right after treatment, but the conditions that led to substance use may still exist. Ongoing support helps prevent relapse and dramatically improves long-term outcomes.
We offer services like Recovery Action Plans and Sobriety Coaching to help families create a plan for sustainable recovery after discharge.
